This photograph by J. C. Field shows the hotel before Plant amended the architectural plans to add the solarium and dining room at the north end of the building, for a total of six to eight acres of floor space. This unobstructed view reveals the prevalence of the horseshoe arch motif in all 735 windows. To maintain the continuity between the exterior and interior spaces, these arches are also present in the interior hallway arches.
