  • Stoneware with polychrome enamel and bisque

Pair of stoneware with polychrome enamel and bisque vases in the Satsuma style.  These elaborately surfaced but simply shaped vases have a landscape design of a rockery raised above the cream-colored ground.  A hawk chasing three birds swooshes across the pounding sea on each. Geometric neck and foot border bands contain the dramatic scene.
