Guests escaping the chill of winter arrived by train, as pictured above in 1893. Plant built a rail spur off the main line to reach the hotel entrance so passengers arriving at the hotel merely stepped off their rail car and entered the building with a few short steps. Additional spurs ran along this line to accommodate the private Pullman cars used by some of the wealthier guests.
