Former Hillsborough County School Board member Doretha Edgecomb will lead an interactive question and answer session on February 10th at 2:30 PM. Edgecomb is the granddaughter of Maggie Stroud, the laundress at the Tampa Bay Hotel, circa 1920. With her considerable background in education, including primary, secondary and University level teaching, as well as program development throughout Florida and the Caribbean, Edgecomb will bring a new understanding of and appreciation for the work of her grandmother and other African-American women of the time period. Her presentation will follow a performance by Amber Forbes as Maggie Stroud.
This program is open to the public and included with Museum admission. Upstairs Downstairs is graciously underwritten by Mosaic and the Florida Humanities Council with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
