Roll back the clock a century and join us for an old fashioned picnic on Sunday, March 4th, starting at 10 AM, in Plant Park. Bring your blanket, pack a picnic basket and invite family and friends to experience the pleasures of a simpler time. Relax in the shade, or test your Victorian sporting prowess with challenges of hoops & sticks, croquet, horseshoes, badminton, and three-legged races. Victorian table games will be offered including dominoes, checkers, jacks or tiddlywinks. We'll have strolling models in vintage clothing, live theater, and continuous entertainment on Center Stage.
Blue Bell Ice Cream will provide complimentary ice cream. Two food trucks from Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally will have food available for purchase. Complimentary popcorn courtesy of the Museum.
In addition to live entertainment, community partners will offer crafts and activities. The Humane Society of Tampa Bay will be present at a table with some friendly dogs looking for a forever home. Visitors will be able to interact with the dogs. The Paper Seahorse will host Victorian paper-crafting on the veranda. Join VSA Florida in an art activity accessible to all. Major Gusto will be patrolling the park throughout the day to ensure that the proper Victorian fun and frolic is observed. Towering above picnickers will be The Stilt Man, a veritable giant at over 9 feet tall!
Picnic in the Park is a perfect opportunity to lull in a haven of rest and contentment on the banks of the Hillsborough River. Bring your own picnic basket, chairs, blankets and coolers and enjoy the day. A limited number of tables are available throughout the park.
